Last Friday we had nice Fathi Roast Party in Columbus Downtown Athenaeum.

Grand Canyon, Animals

Even though I say animals – squirrels were the most amazing thing as usual. To see first one felt like a great luck and everybody around was afraid to scare it away, staying there an trying to not breathe:

After that we saw about 10 more. But at the end of the day they all appeared to be very social, followed people around, posed in the middle of the group staying on back legs, one even jumped on one guy laps:

I bet, if these squirrels could read and write it would be very clear for these ppl who sat under each bush “don’t-feed-wild-life” signs how wrong they are:

We have also seen couple of chipmunks (can you even imagine US without these?) and tiny-tiny lizards (geckos?) which even thought were taken pictures of were very small/fast to get quality ones. So maybe next time we will be more lucky.

And of course I can’t finish this post without mentioning this buddy who greeted us right in front of the parking lot at Grand Canyon National Park:

He actually decided that this nice road was created especially for him to walk on and used it to get to a puddle in-between two sections of a parking lot. People in the cars who were waiting for him to finish this great maneuver had nothing against it, all had cameras after all…

Grand Canyon, first impressions

It was really awesome day and I love our trip from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon. In one day we went through lifeless desert, black desert mountains, steppe, prairie and entered a forest in Grand Canyon mountains. I’ve never seen nature changing so fast!
OK, no words anymore, only few photos. Probably I will update this post later and write more regarding our trip, but for now enjoy pictures.

Niagara Falls 2011

On Saturday 3 September 2011, Denys, Roman and I, we decided to have a very long day and in very morning left in direction to Niagara Falls NY.
The trip was long and existing, especially talking about weather, because 90+ F temperature during the day switched to thunderstorm and crazy rains during the next night on our way home. But we went through this and really enjoyed the trip.

Ecommerce Picnic 2011

This year “End of Summer Ecommerce Picnic” happened a bit earlier, on Saturday 24th August. This was planned in advance, because we knew that we will have guests from Ukraine visiting Ecommerce and wanted to spend this sunny day together with them.

Our Snake Pet

We were lazy with out backyard work for quite a bit lately, since weather was hot and humid and not very inviting for any outside activities. But since we are leaving today, we had to clean leaves and branches from recent storm, mow the lawn, remove weeds in flower beds and so on.

While Yuriy was mowing front yard, I was cleaning back yard from big branches, so it is ready to be mown as well. I found several wild mushrooms while doing so and, of course, could’t resist an urge to get some pictures of them – which was a nice excuse to break from work.

So, right after we were finished with taking mushroom pictures and were ready to get back to work, I almost walked into a snake taking a sun baths on the stone:

It wasn’t a our first encounter with a snake at New California Dr, in fact a snake was the first wild “pet” we met there, however it was a first time we manager to get some pics of it. And by the way, it appears that this snake isn’t the only one we have (as I thought), later another one was running away from me (and me from her) when I was finishing up weeding front flower bed.

I have to leave how to love snakes, I guess.

Plain City Steam Show. Part 1 – Parade

Plain City Steam Show 2011 is over, but we have a lot of impressions, and also I got a lot of photos.
This is a traditional Plain City Event. Each year for 3 days the city park is transformed to a camping area, you can see tracks, trailers and tents from very different places across the United States. Yeah, this event is definitely worth to visit it.
The first evening, on Friday, there was a Parade, it started from the Plain City Park right after 6pm, long line of tracks, cars, tractors and historical vehicles did a big circle following North Chillicothe St and after turned to West Main St to return in a while back to the park.
It was very hot, I don’t know how so many people and especially children survived that humid hell, but anyway I think the show was worth to be there.
The second day, Saturday, we spent the evening in the park watching the tractors and tracks drug racing. I’m from Europe, in my country we do not have such racings, now you can understand that I was quite impressed. I’ve never seen before a tractor or a track with over 1000 horse powers drug racing. If I add that the show finished deep at night, you will understand why I still see diesel trucks, with big tail of black fog, racing in the light of projectors.
The third lazy Event day is Sunday, it’s the end of the show, and we decided that we have enough for this weekend…
